Who's the King of the Jungle?

We are pleased to announce favourable rulings in Saudi Arabia for our client, PUMA SE, following a series of opposition proceedings and appeals before the Saudi Commercial Court and the Court of Appeal.

The dispute involved the attempt by TaylorMade Lifestyle Ventures LLC to register the trademarks SUN DAY RED device in Classes 18, 25, and 28, which were judged to be confusingly similar to PUMA SE’s registered world-famous “Jumping Cat” device. The Court confirmed the likelihood of consumer confusion and recognized the prior use and registration of PUMA’s trademarks in Saudi Arabia.

This outcome reinforces the importance of protecting well-known trademarks to prevent consumer confusion and brand dilution.
